Hello. I’ve been taking creating at an approximate 3-5g per day dose for a couple of months now, maybe longer. I definitely feel stronger in a weird way: more resilient.. I’m also recovering better from exercise, which is my traditional mental health treatment, and it means I can run more. But I have gained 2kg in mass, and this has disconcerted me a bit. Is it normal to gain weight? Can I do anything about it?

Thanks for your facts. I didn’t realise how little creatine there is in the meat I eat, I don’t eat huge quantities.

How does creating influence pregnancy and hormonal health in women?

Hello Cecily and thank you for the excellent questions. The way you describe feeling stronger on creatine after a few months is similar to how it effected me when I first started. I can run more, recover faster, and feel more energetic the next day. I'm so glad its helping you :)

Gaining 1-3 kg is normal when first starting is pretty normal, as it makes one retain a bit of water. it will come off on its own in time is what the research says. But you could also try intermittent fasting for a few weeks or carb restriction for a few weeks to shift the excess water (I do both)

Since the methylation system is under maximum stress during pregnancy, creatine is an enormous help. There are some studies suggesting it will reduce the incidence of birth defects similarly to how methylfolate will. But of course that information should be verified with the woman's doctor before started it.

How it effects hormonal health I don't have a clear answer for to be honest. I think that in your case, since you are feeling better on it, it seems to be helping you across the board which is what I would expect to happen for most people, just like taking vitamin C helps across the board in all health metrics. I think reason why is that estrogen has to be methylated to be processed by the body and so anything that helps the methylation system should help hormonal health.

best of luck!
